GNN Playgroups
We have reserved a play room at the Takkiff center for the first
Tuesday (10am-11:30am) and third Thursday(1pm-2:30pm) of each month.
No need to RSVP; just come by for the fun!
If you were to ask Glencoe parents about their involvement with the Glencoe Newcomers and Neighbors, chances are you would hear them enthusiastically discuss how playgroups changed their experience of living with young children in Glencoe. That's because playgroups are the most intimate and routine activity organized by GNN. Each week, the different playgroups, organized by age, meet in members' homes or at a park. Each group makes its own schedule to accommodate its members.
Playgroups connect parents and foster social development among the children. Even if the tots attend different preschool programs, the children and mothers involved often form lasting friendships that can be kindled once the children start kindergarten.
Past board President, Victoria Lovely, underscores the long-range benefits to both moms and tots in playgroups by saying, "I joined a playgroup through Newcomers when we moved here almost five years ago. Our playgroup still gets together. The kids may be way past it, but the parents are not!"
Pumpkin Day is always a terrific time for Glencoe Newcomers and Neighbors families. Every year the Newcomers host a moonbounce, a crowd favorite! We can't wait to see you again this fall.
